MPSJ councillor suggests two U-turns along KESAS highway will help to reduce Subang jaya traffic congestion

MPSJ Councilor R.Rajiv is explaining about the suggestion of two U-turns on a Map

Subang Jaya, March 19—The construction of two U-turns at KESAS highway near Kewajipan junction will help to resolve Subang Jaya’s infamous traffic jam, MPSJ councillor R.Rajiv suggests.

“(The vehicles) coming from Subang, you make a left turn to KESAS instead, and you make a U-turn (and straight heading to KESAS’ Klang direction,)” he says.

“For motorists from USJ (who) wish to (drive to) Kuala Lumpur through KESAS, they need turn left to KESAS’ Klang direction and make U-turn to continue their journey to Kuala Lumpur,” he says.

He further elaborates that KESAS concessionaire has orally agreed to the proposal and is awaiting the approval of Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) with federal government fund allocation.

R.Rajiv is MPSJ Zone 3 Councillor which part of Persiaran Kewajipan is fallen under his zone of responsibility.

He also mentions about Summit USJ traffic light will be removed in order to make free flow traffic at Persiaran Kewajipan once the U-turns are completed.

Traffic light is the major cause of the traffic congestion and bottle neck of the Persiaran Kewajipan and Subang Jaya

The four phase traffic lights at KESAS-Kewajipan interchange has been the main traffic bottleneck of Persiaran Kewajipan.

Contrary to Rajiv’s claim, MHA official says that the application of the U-turns’ construction has yet to be received.

“So far we have only received and approved the KESAS proposal of road widening at KM 38.1-KM 38.5 towards Klang direction at Persiaran Kewajipan junction in mid-2010,” MHA officer says.

The officer also mentions that KESAS concessionaire only summits two applications of work construction but none of it is related to the U-turns.

Subang Jaya state assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh explains the situation around Persiaran Kewajipan by drawing road map

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh urges the Ministry of Works (MoW) to coordinate a joint meeting between MHA and KESAS to speed up the process of the project.

“It’s very annoying, everybody just washes their hand over this (issue),” she criticises on the lack of efficiency of the three bodies in planning and implementing the project.

She also points out that Persiaran Kewajipan maintenance is managed by different bodies, which direct to the management disorder on the road.

“Because of MoW weird policy, MPSJ has no jurisdiction on fixing KESAS-Kewajipan interchange traffic light and traffic congestion problem,” she says.

Under the policy, KESAS-Kewajipan interchange maintenance is fallen under KESAS concessionaire responsibility.

“However, KESAS says we cannot do anything because (KESAS-Kewajipan interchange is a) toll-free road,” she further emphasises.

In the meantime, KESAS concessionaire refuses to be interviewed about the issue when contacted.

Persiaran Kewajipan is approxiamately an eight kilometres major toll-free road which have several major Klang Valley toll concessionaires such as KESAS, LDP, NPE, ELITE, Federal Highway Route 2 and NKVE throughout it.
